Digital Marathon - Rules of Engagement
Some of you might think there is no need to set parameters for participating in the Maveris Olympic CTF, but I would remind you of the words of the former German Federal Minister of the Interior Thomas de Maiziere "Hackers Gonna Hack".
So here are a few rules for you to follow as you enjoy participating in the CTF.
- Do NOT hack! This includes the CTF site but also all public resources you find/use when searching for the flag. All flags can be found without the need to scan or attack a device or account.
- If you are new to OSINT, there are great resources that can be found at https://osintcurio.us/.
- Do not try to brute force the flag submissions. The CTF is setup to freeze your account if you attempt more than three (3) entries on a single flag within one minute.
- Be aware, some flags have a max attempt limit to deter participants from spamming the flag. The challenge will show you that limit for your team.
- Do not perform any unwanted actions to others participating in the challenges.
- Maveris Olympic Team Members - Participation points are awarded per team member. In order to receive participation points, you must solve at least one mile and submit a flag successfully.
- If you have a desire to do a writeup for any challenge, we fully support it. We just ask that you wait until after 12 AUG when the Olympics end.
- We recommend you don’t post the answer to the challenges so others have to work through them. However, if you just have to do it, please wait until after 12 AUG.
- Have Fun! Learn new things!
- Share...just like your momma told you. Be sure to share the CTF with your coworkers, friends, random strangers....and your momma.

"These are OSINT challenges that are based on information found on the Internet surrounding the 2024 Olympics. There is a possibility that information will change over time, such as images on Google Earth, employee jobs, or olympic records, etc. We cannot control these things, but if you feel that is why you can’t find a flag, message us on X at @MaverisLabs and we will see if we can help."
